Tyler Alberts - Executive Director
|
Serving as the Executive Director for the OTME, Tyler Alberts is a Fort Worth native and graduate of Arlington Heights High and attended both Blinn College and Texas Tech University. The first 10 years after college were spent working in the entertainment field as a carpenter, traveling nearly the entire U.S. and much of Canada with Broadway shows like Miss Saigon, The King and I, Beauty and the Beast, as well as large industry convention shows. It was while touring with the various shows that his passion for history fully developed, and much of his free time was used to research and interview veterans. It was Warren G. Alberts Sr. who served with the US 90th Inf. Division during WWII, and then with the National Guard throughout the 50s and 60s, that was Tyler's grandfather and chief inspiration when deciding to work in history. Tyler's passions for research, preservation, and education have been his guiding goals as his projects have grown. Tyler has served as the Historian for the 90th Division Association in an official capacity since 2005, but has been working with the division's veterans since 1997, interviewing hundreds on camera over the years. He is also the Historian for a Vietnam unit, Alpha Company 227th Assault Helicopter Battalion, that was an organic element of the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). As the owner and creator of a unique archival film company named Combat Reels, Tyler has been given the opportunity to introduce the public to many new images from the National Archives and for some people, images of themselves or of family members. His passion for history and experience in theatre / television have given him a unique combination of skills to bring exhibits to life at the OTMEs first museum, the Military Museum of Fort Worth. Tyler is excited to be the tip of the spear in an effort to bring the Metroplex a wonderful learning opportunity through a free museum covering the military conflicts of the 20th Century and a planned Mobile Museum that will reach out to the various schools and event opportunities of our community.
